Stanley Cutter

When you think of a knife for trade’s people then the first thing that comes to mind is a Stanley Cutter. These have been around for a long time, and they have proven their reliability and quality. It’s funny how the real name of one of these knives is actually a Utility Knife, but because of how popular Stanley has become they are commonly referred to as Stanley Knives or Stanley Cutters. There are a lot of fake knives out there today which you can get for a few dollars each, but you truly get what you pay for.

Stanley has strived to provide a product which is cheap when you consider the true quality of it. Sure, you can go and buy a 3 dollar knife which will last for a few weeks, or you could go and get a high quality Stanley Cutter which will last you a lifetime. The difference in quality is simply astounding, and with blades that are very cheap you can’t go wrong with a good Stanley Cutter. These can be used for many different purposes; cutting cardboard, timber, opening boxes, cutting tape and various other purposes. Most people who have a number of tools have at least one Safety Cutter lying around, because they come in handy more than you would think.

Stanley has made a massive number of products; it’s not just the Stanley Cutter which is good. You can get everything from storage to measuring equipment and beyond, and all of items that are available are sure to be good quality. I have used a large number of their products and been very happy with them. Personally I get sucked into buying cheap items and then having them brake regularly rather than buying one good quality item the first time around! I know that there are so many people that do the same, but you eventually realize that it’s simply not worth it. This is especially the case with buying cheaper Scrapers; the Stanley Scraper is the only way to go!

A Stanley Cutter varies a lot, depending on what you are doing. You can get ones with fixed blades (in that you can’t put the blade away). These are fine, except when you carry them in a tool bag as you can easily hurt yourself reaching for something else. You can also get a Stanley Cutter which has a retractable blade, and these are very popular. It means that when you are done with the knife you can throw it in your bag without having to worry about whether you are going to cut yourself or not!

The last option that you have for these great knives is to get something with a snap off blades. The two types discussed above can have their blades changed, but the blades are sharp on either end (so you can turn them around and use them again) and they are usually taller and stronger. The snap off blade Stanley Knives are good too, but the blades aren’t as strong and it’s easy to break them off unintentionally. Usually these are used for doing light work (IE opening boxes etc) as a pose to cutting timber and plastic! You can also replace these blades when you have snapped all of the remaining ones off.
